On December 13th, at the Grand Amphitéâtre on Boulevard Bord-de-Mer, organization “Prends ça court! fête Noël à Jacmel” presented an entire evening of quality cinema, with help from the Alliance Française of Jacmel and Ciné Institute! A selection of the very best work of students and graduates from the Institute was shown, accompanied by classics chosen by Prends ça court.
For 15 years now, Prends ça court! has organized screenings of the best short films around the world, contributing to the promotion, distribution, and production of independent and professional films in both Quebec and elsewhere. However, this marks only the second year that this organization has worked with us at Ciné Institute to organize a fantastic event right here in Haiti!
The evening of cinema included La Botte by Jean Marie Marcel, Un Handicap de Manasse Fortune, Le Fléau de Gasner François, Citée Troublée by André-Deave Decime, and several surprise films. In addition, directors Simon Olivier Fecteau, Guillaume Blanchet, Hélène Florent, Philippe Lupien, Marie-Hélène Viens, and Denis Villeneuve were honored with the presentation of their film, Le Technicien, Bounce, Léger Problème, Bernard Le Grand et Next Floor, which is quickly becoming a great classic in Quebec!
All in all, it was an inspiring evening of free cinema! Thank you to those who were able to come and support our Ciné Institute! And a special thank you to Jean-Marie D. Raymond, a second year at Ciné Institute, for his valuable help in organizing this year’s event.
